Mad Libs App is the perfect resource for your student to practice nouns, verbs, and adjectives. This free App can be found on iTunes and will keep your student busy with the interactive activities.
AAA Math is an interactive website to help your student practice and study their math facts. There are several Common Core Standards covered in this website that will help your student reach the State requirements.
Reading is Fundamental This website offers several online stories for your student to follow along. Challenge your student to read along and point out some words they already know, and words they may not know.
Frank Asch is a classroom favorite author. This link has some animated stories read by Frank himself. Your students should be familiar with these stories and some of the vocabulary words inside. Challenge your student by asking them to spell out and write the words they may know in a complete sentence.

Seussville Dr. Seuss is also a classroom favorite. This site is all about what it is like to live in Seussville. From games with all of the characters from all of the books, to the stories themselves this website is a great way to keep your student engaged for an hour or so.
Reading Eggs This website is focused on the phonics and development of young readers. There are several games and activities for your students on this site. Each student has their own profile, and will be able to participate in this website during free choice friday time. The goal for this website is for students to enjoy learning about the basics of reading and comprehension. Encourage your student to reach the golden egg for each category.

BrainPopJr. We use this website regularly during class time, however we never have enough time to discover all that this site has to offer. Let your student explore what Moby and Annie have to say about different content areas. Information for log in and password will come in an email after the first day of school.
Motion Math App How big can your student grow their fish? With this math app students will be able to raise a fish. the only way to keep it healthy is by doing math problems to make their fish grow. There are several levels on this app; focus on addition and subtraction with your first grader. Warning: there is a level where negative numbers are introduced, if your student gets to that level you as the parent have some choices. Negative numbers does not come into the CCSS for students until the 6th grade. (CCSS 6.NS.C.5) So, you can either tell your student they passed all the appropriate levels, or you can download another app.

Eric Carle We have a week dedicated to this wonderful author and illustrator. This website is for you and your student to research more about Carle and read a few more stories that we may not get to during class. There are also coloring pages available for you to print off! Enjoy!
I Can Write 2 App In this app your student will be able to develop complete sentences. This app is used to help students develop independent writing skills. Your student will get to create their own pictures to match their sentences and vise versa. This app is engaging and fun. Challenge your student to try and use this weeks sight words in their sentences.
